Westlands, has become its own "city" within the city of Nairobi except without the stress of the city centre. Hundreds of businesses have moved from the city centre to Westlands over the last 10 years. Westlands has most everything that one would expect of a city. It contains movie theatres, supermarkets, boutiques, banks, gyms, health clubs, hotels, restaurants and one of Nairobi's largest shopping complexes, the Sarit Centre. It has excellent bars and night clubs and is the preferred location of Nairobi for night life. It has offices, houses, maisonettes and apartment buildings and its residents are a healthy mix of peoples of all colour and creed.
