WATAMU, a small village 20kms before Malindi just off the Mombasa - Malindi Road consists of a shoreline that divides into three bays, Watamu, Blue Lagoon and Turtle Bay. It has become a popular holiday destination with its spectacular coral reef and lovely beaches. Nearby attractions are Watamu Marine Park and the Gedi Ruins. Watamu Bay is accessed through the northern road and has a number of residential houses and beach cottages. Located south of Watamu, the Blue Lagoon has a circular beach where resort hotels, residential houses and cottages overlook the lagoon and the islands out at sea. Turtle Bay harbours both local and modern fishing boats. There are a few small shops in Watamu though major shopping can be done in Malindi.
