VIPINGO is a small coastal swahili village roughly 30 kms north along the Mombasa - Malindi Road. Most of the residential properties are along the beach or in large estates in relative close vicinity of the beach. There are scattered beach and guest houses available for rent. The area is known for its large sisal plantations. Vipingo has Vipingo beach and Kuruwitu beach. The beaches are mostly deserted and very private with local fishermen getting on with their work. In the coastal forest that remains old tombs can still be found. A large scale residential development scheme with an 18 hole golf course is under way in Vipingo.
