PATE ISLAND is the largest of the three larger islands that form the Lamu archipelago, situated 320 kms north of Mombasa. Pate, Siyu and Faza are the main towns on the island. The island lacks the fine beaches the other two islands have due to its dense mangrove shores but is of great historical interest. Accommodation is mostly in the form of rentable rooms.
