KITALE, located in the western highlands 380 km north west of Nairobi, is an agricultural town where tea, coffee, pyrethrum and maize are grown. There are two lovely museums in town and it is in close proximity to Mt Elgon and the Cherengani Hills, and hence is a starting point for travellers heading to those destinations. Kitale is located at an altitude of 7000 feet (2130 m) and so has fresh crisp air. Kitale has some lovely farm houses, camps and lodges to reside in.
