KERICHO, a town located approximately 250 km from Nairobi in the highlands of the Rift Valley, is also the capital of the district known as Kericho District. The area is famous for growing tea and some of the finest and largest tea plantations in the country are located here. The conditions for tea growing are ideal due to the predictable weather of daily showers and temperate climate. The town itself is very orderly and neat and basically serves the tea plantations and has all the basic services as banks, market, post office, churches, temples, restaurants, bars etc. The area also contains the country's largest water catchment, the Mau Forest.
